SALON MADE IN FRANCE 9th-10th April 2014

Today (10/04/14) I went to the Salon Made in France at Carreau du Temple between Temple and Art et Métiers area. This location Carreau du Temple has been renovated for a while and has its own history. For the curious ones here are a few links in french :

Concerning this trade show held once a year I think, gather together all " la crème de la crème" as we say in french, the best of the best French Haute Façon. We can meet professionals of the best know-how and industrial technics.

It's the opportunity for the Fashion designers and Creative director to meet professionals in textile, finishing and clothing. I have seen SME (Small and Medium sized Enterprise) who can manufacture your clothes. For most of them you have to give them your patterns, fabrics and managed the shipping by your own.

In the other hand there are entreprises who can only do your patterns. Each company is specialized in laser embroidery, leather etc. Sometimes there are no minimum and they could prepare your samples which it's very helpful for your fashion show before manufacturing a lot.

There also companies really "niche" market. Which means specialized in buttons or underwear lace. Another remark to point, most of the companies are either in Paris or in the area of Deux-Sèvres East of France near Cholet. There could be also somewhere else in France but that's what I have noticed the most.

I ended up discovering a very interesting exhibition. Some outfits were breath taking and daring, exploring new shapes and volumes.
